There's been quite a lot of coverage about this case. Your thoughts? IMO this is cruel. The family will incur MILLIONS of dollars in medical debts to satisfy an abortion law. Not to mention the mental issues the family must be dealing with...

Couldn't they get a court injunction to try and break this impasse? I don't know enough about GA legalities to answer that question.

The husband wanted her unplugged. Recall the Left siding with the husband. And the Right with the parents. A political football during the baby Bush administration. Here we go again.

This case shows the irrationality of GA's fetal personhood law.

but the taxpayers certainly will.

We had a similar case over 25 years ago. Social services, legal, and the ethics department determined the directives followed.

A girl's life was spared her brain dead mother's fate. Of such was the ICU's hard won victory...infrequent as they often are.

I wondered about the expenses

for nearly any family it would be crushing, but since they are being forced into the situation, then the source forcing things should be held financially accountable.

The woman is already dead.

I get that the developing entity is of lesser value than a born human, but there is no longer the "my body" argument.

So can you argue that the fetus has absolutely zero value?

I'd not make the cost argument. It will come back to haunt.

I'm pro-choice. The parents should be allowed to choose what happens. The mother is brain-dead and can't make decisions, so the father should decide.

If the father is not available, then the grandparents should decide.

It should be illegal for the hospital to do things against the wishes of the patients.

the parents or kin are always in the decision making process..
