Since Scott seems adverse to talking about this, I am bringing it to the top.

Even if you don't believe in the Bible, what role do you think the HS plays in the entire three-fold story line?

I see it reflected as gentle and nurturing. The Hebrew word for HS is feminine, leading to the possibility this figure is a woman. It would make sense if you see God as an "everything" i.e. all genders and none, then Jesus is the male and the HS would balance the triangle out with feminine energies.

Note I said possibilities. It's just something I have thought about for a while.

It is very amateurish.

If you are talking about Christianity you need to refer to their sacred texy

I have never considered the Holy Spirit in terms of gender, but the Father, Son, and ... Mother (HS) is an interesting perspective.

The Catholic Church teaches that the Holy Spirit is genderless, but has always referred to the Holy Spirit as "He". This is because the Holy Spirit is of the same gender as the Lord Jesus. The Catechism of the Catholic Church teaches that we cannot properly assign a gender or genders to the divine, but when in our use of language, God must be assigned a gender, the Holy Spirit is referred to in masculine terms.

it make sense that it's hard to talk about God as a "whatever" (so to speak). I think that to be God it has to embrace all genders, colors, etc. i.e. the God of all creation.

I think the world might very possibly be a better place if we would call upon "feminine" leadership for a change. The nurturing and caring balance of femininity might be just what the world needs right now. We certainly can't afford to keep pushing the limits on masculine competition, destruction and warmongering. In the end, Mother Nature may very well have the last word, anyway. Maybe we will be swallowed by a super volcano before we nuke ourselves?
