My posts and I

I have been posting here for twenty years, I only occasionally post an opinion, mostly I post interesting articles. Those that pay attention will have noted that most of my posts get no response.

That has never bothered me, as my interests are somewhat quirky. What often surprises me are the ones where responses take off.

I have little interests in opinion, including my own, because it is especially rare on this forum that anyone changes their opinion for any reason. So I do waste my time trying to.

People will have an opinion about most anything. I rarely worry about what it will be, just as I rarely have any emotion about it.

I never worry about what people will think about me, as I never have any need of approval nor any need to fit in. I realize that is a bit unusual, but I like being free to be myself based on my own values learned over life.

Insults and name-calling are rather juvenile, so mostly I ignore both. Mostly I try to avoid doing it myself, occasional I slip up.

I have little opinion about my fellow posters as I
only know what you post here, and that gives little clue to what each of you may be. The internet is often more image than fact.

I can ignore Insults and name-calling, but the lies bother me.

Like all humans I occasional make mistakes or do things wrong. So I don't mind honest accurate criticism.

Lies bother me. I don't like when people say things about me that aren't even true. Sometimes I feel like I need to correct the lies so other people here won't believe the lies.

Sometimes when I try to confront and correct the liars, it makes them more angry and makes them post more lies.

I have been posting on these boards for over 25 years. People have been reading my posts here for over 25 years. I hope people here will judge me by posts, and not believe the lies about me posted by the liars.

I learned quite a while ago that people will say and believe whatever they want, and nothing that I say or do will change their opinion.

There may be an objective reality, but each of us only have our own personal interpretation of the small part of reality that we happen to notice. Our emotions cloud even that part that we do notice.

Internet malfunction and it took until today to get the Satellite Tech out here.

Still need my computer repairman to work on a few more problems.

Being nearly 80, automatically makes people assume the worse if you are out of contact. Of course there is some reason for the fear, so I understand. Someday it will happen, but not yet.

more frustrating still, is the lies are easily visible

Enjoy this board more as a sounding board for me, not to garner response. Of which I receive precious little. And that’s okay. Always enjoyable about what others’ opinions are.

I enjoy your posts. I don't usually respond when all I can do is repeat what you have said, or someone else.

Yes, the name calling is childish, the food fights can be a waste of time. It all drives the quality of a board down and derails what may have been an interesting thread.

We only see a small part of each of the posters here - and anyone can be anything they want due to the anonymity the internet affords. I imagine there are decent, honest people online - but sometimes a person can be fooled.

So I try to behave reasonably, hopefully I succeed - I don't take online life too seriously.

I respect you both for that. I like reading both yours and Christian's posts. Like you, I don't always reply. Sometimes I want to digest the information or research it further before diving in.

Somedays being a professional researcher/writer can be a blessing and a curse. I'll dig, and dig, and dig when I already have an answer that seems sound. It's hard to know where to stop LOL. I have footnotes everywhere.

Anywho, I trust you have a good week. I've gotta do more research on the folklore, myth, and relgious uses of fruits (yes, really... before that it was an educational piece on smoked bologna steak.. ya just never know.

I hope I am civil especially in these times of angry voices. Your praise means a lot to me. I've always found you well researched and balanced - trying to understand both sides. That is not always easy to do.

Food is very social. People always seem to have gatherings round a well set table - plus its very enjoyable. I am not surprised that food has a strong religious connection as it is needed to sustain life.
