I thought this move would be about time travel, but it's be mainly religious.

Questions related to the movie:

Is it OK to teach about morals without talking about Jesus?

When we teach morals, must we also teach that morals come from Jesus and the Bible?

Since no one ever visits us from the future, does that prove time machines are impossible?

The Ten Commandments are as good as it gets. And there are just 10. The Jesus part is about eternal life for those who in His name recognized their innate sinfulness and ask GOD for forgiveness in the name of the REDEEMER. That a simple formula in a nutshell.?

Question 1 - Of course its OK to talk about morals without mentioning Jesus. Not everyone is Christian. Morals exist in other people outside of Christianity.

Question 2 - Morals existed before Jesus's ministry. They existed in people who never heard of or read the Bible. And they exist in non-Christian people today who never picked up a Bible. Jesus is not necessary for a person to have morals. Common sense, logic, compassion and empathy play a significant role in the development of morals as do life experiences.

Question 3 - To the best of my knowledge time travel is not possible, at least in our time. No idea what the future may bring. If we do have visitors from a future time, maybe they haven't announced themselves as such. But time travel makes for great sci-fi.

If you could time travel, but only in one direction, which way would you go? Forward to see what the future holds? Or back in time to see for yourself what really happened?

It might be interesting to see the Dinosaurs, but I would rather see the future.

I want to see all the self driving cars and robot delivery vehicles 15 years from now.

I want to go forward to when we finally invent a cure for aging.

I want to see the first cities on Mars in 100 - 200 years. I want to see what parts of the solar system we colonize.

I want to read about the human colonies in other star systems we will have in thousands of years.

I want to see the first messages we get from extraterrestrial intelligence.

You want a lot.

If one's moral framework is not explicitly based on Judeo-Christian doctrine (regardless of its actual ontology), there would be no reason to include Jesus or any other component of that doctrine when teaching it.

Lack of visitations from the future (so far as we know...) would reinforce the assertion that time travel to the past is impossible, but it wouldn't conclusively prove that this is the case. It might still remain possible, but not something that has actually occurred. Alternatively, such a visitation might have occurred but was not detected. Or the act of "backtiming" creates a dimensional fork (as in multiverse theory), and we are in an undisturbed stream. Or several other possibilities, none of which can be incontrovertibly ruled out given our current understanding of spacetime.

But fwiw, my bet is on backtiming being impossible...

you dance on a fine line when you start talking about religious figures. It's hard to do without slipping into dogma.

I brought my children up to be good human beings by word and deed. I never pushed any religion on them, but let them explore, ask questions, and discover on their own. Critical thinking skills required.
