Is there a cure for You Tube addiction?

Is there a board rule concerning YouTube posts. How many? I learn a great deal from YouTube videos. Including those posted here.

Agreed. I always write out a description when posting YouTube.

But on the other hand DFM YT posts for the most part are self explanatory in the video title. What more can one introduce before hand? A pope having orgies in the Vatican is in need of no prologue.

DFM can offer up his opinion on it.

I may, from DMF's posting history, conclude what I think his opinion is, but I don't like doing that. There is the risk that my assumption is wrong.

I prefer people represent themselves and not use just videos or links to do so. A little editorial from the poster goes a long way to invite conversation.

YouTube is far from an authenticated authority on anything. Anyone can put anything out there on it - and generally does.

Doesn't mean that you won't, on occasion, find some good stuff out there. But it need verification.

Offering up a vid with no comment (something DFM does all the time) is no way to kick off a discussion. It's an assignment - I graduated from school long ago.

I agree with you for many reasons.

not posting a notice that they have copied and pasted from AI gets a pass with me. Not interested in chatting with, of all things, computer generated stuff.

Personal contact these days is so limited. We've become a society of people who interact with screens and keyboards, not with each other.

So yea, forums such as this give opportunity to chat with people we ordinarily never would have. But it should never replace on a large scale human contact.

But I come from the days of old, when people actually had to talk to one another, often face to face. I find it makes a difference.
