It seems that if you do not have a set of principles to live by you

can’t know how to think, only what to think. Without a framework of right and wrong, just and unjust, etc., no moral compass, it’s all up for grabs, like nailing Jello to a tree.

Superficially, you might get along for awhile, but sooner or later
things come crashing down because the framework that sustains us is missing.

Anyone in particular?

I’m grateful to have been forced to attend church and Sunday school.

Greatfull to not be forced innto church.

Still had no problem in creating a working set of principles simply by observing the society around me in what didn't seem to work in the society that I lived in.

and my folks taught ethics through their behavior - the kindness extended to even those they didn't know time and again.

Cause and effect are great teachers. Early in humankind's history, cooperation proved a better path than constantly squabbling.

AND most important to human history and our time at this juncture, SALVATION for the human race as a living breathing creature was and IS always the theme. A remnant shall be saved. WE WON’t be part of that. Others not yet born will.

GOG, you believe it, but I have good reason not to trust humans about God. Human authors are well to interpret things according to their own opinions, especially in matters of religion.
