Will AI, automation, and robotics take too many jobs from humans? What should we do about it?

Machines have been replacing humans for thousands of years, but most people keep finding other jobs. I'm not sure how long that can continue. I wonder if we will reach a point where there are not enough jobs and too many people can't find work.

Should we should take more control and make more regulations on technology, instead of running on blind heartless capitalism?

Two Amazon delivery drones crash into crane, one person injured.

In the first video they talk about the "cool" drones and fast deliveries. They don't even say anything about safety or about the delivery people who will loose their jobs.

Second video: Three months later they already had two drones crash.

Ridiculous. 80 lbs to deliver 5 lbs.

How saturated the skies if this AI invasion becomes the norm for hundreds of thousands of customers. Great big artificial ‘insects’. More predator technology.

Problems with AI

Notably, it provides incorrect information or worse, dangerous information/instructions.

There are numerous examples of plagiarism in art, music, and writing. AI spins things, but you can tell it's AI (or at least I can).

Certainly I think there are industries where it could be useful when properly handled. But there are a lot of people who are more than happy to misuse it

I constantly see ads encouraging students to essentially cheat (claiming it can't be detected, which is simply not true. It may be harder to detect, but one paper and pencil or oral exam and it becomes obvious who has been using it.

I am not sure how to control the growing use of AI so that its responsible.

The warning from Rod Serling was made about 60 years ago, but we still have enough work now.

Was Rod Serling being an alarmist in that episode?

Will people always find new jobs to replace the jobs taken by machines and AI?

Progress should bring as many people along with it as possible, not leave most of us in its wake.

What can “we” do? Nothing. The nerds and geeks have determined the direction. Control and enormous wealth for a technocratic minority. Disenfranchisement for everyone else. The mentally quick of greater IQ will eat the slow wits. Did we have a choice when the digital age was shoved in our faces? No. Others determine the course and “we” think it’s progress, but the progression is our enslavement. AI is their holy grail. The false god. The nanny and ‘best friend’ for programming the digitally insane youth, and to make superfluous the employed, including you.
