It was not my intention to "attack" anybody, just to offer up my 2 cents worth when it comes to my opinions of all religions and not any particular one, although some have taken it that way.

My mind is geared in a completely different way when it comes to religion by my never having been forcefully subjected to it in my youth.

Sorry, but I tasted the fruit of the tree of knowledge. It may be a bitter fruit, but so is a Lemon and it can be made to taste good as well.

Whatever you did is undetectable.

throwing water on the belief isn't the same thing as throwing it on the believer.

If you had to make a choice, what would it be? Speak the truth as you understand it? Remain silent so no one is upset?

Did your parents believe as you do or were they “religious”?

As I've said, my parents never subjected me to youthful religious indoctrination...nor Grandparents nor Great Grandparents.

I was raised with science and logic and it goes back generations.

My Great Grandfather was one of the men who was instrumental in building the Griffith Observatory in the Hollywood Hills and the establishment of Griffith Park. He saw far above the smog into the cosmos. He too, like me, saw and wrote about his encounters with lights in the deserts, which he roamed with regularity.

That is great about your great grandfather. However, you have pointed to the obvious, the influence of your non religious family.
You, otoh, always seem to suggest that people of faith were indoctrinated, but don’t consider that you were.

It means that you didn’t see the results of people who put their faith in God, in the love of Christ, in daily lives lived out in those beliefs (as contrasted with those who merely wear the label.)

I, otoh, had two loving parents, one an atheist and one a Christian.
My Dad and I were kindred spirits, similar personalities. But my quieter mom was content in difficult circumstances that Dad couldn’t handle. Mom kept a Bible on the table by her chair and read it often when Dad wasn’t there. He didn’t like that. He would allow us to say “thanks” at mealtime, but often followed up with a joking remark.

Mom saw to it that we went to church. Dad wouldn’t drive us. We took two buses and one streetcar faithfully several times during the week for church, Sunday school, prayer meeting, youth group, choir practice, etc. Our leaders were educated not only in colleges and universities, but in seminaries. We were exposed to world leaders who visited and spoke. We participated in sports, music, Scouts, etc. as well - very full lives.

The Bible teaches in the book of James that all good things from God. I believe that. They’re not limited to church buildings, universities, families, nature, science, et al.

Later I attended both Christian and sectarian universities and was amazed at how narrow-minded sectarian schools were. I cannot imagine how it would feel to live a life without the love, gratitude, confidence and contentment that comes in life, NO MATTER THE CONSEQUENCES, with Christian faith. It’s a lifestyle and a journey and it doesn’t all come at once. Late bloomers are everywhere.

I know that is unreal to you, but it is real to me, and while I appreciate the “knowledge” that scientific discovery brings, I recognize it as discovery about God’s creation, perhaps designed for us to enjoy along with Him.

My family didn't hide us from religion but openly watched it...

As you said, you were subjected to it's influences since before your mind can even remember and it has become embedded forever, just like language skills. They form similar pathways in the Brain.

Why is your Christian upbringing and faith better than another religion's upbringing and faith?
How about the religions of long gone civilizations?

Your god seems inconsistent and rather illogical.

Your choice is your choice as long as it doesn't impact or interfere with my life to any great extent.

You speak of God as if from some kind of credible knowledge.

What is that knowledge? The God you speak of is not the Biblical God, remembering that it is the Bible in its entirety that gives us full understanding, in light of the hermeneutics of the Bible interpreting the Bible, of who the one and only (why I believe other religions don’t worship the one true God, and therefore don’t “deliver”) true God. ( Note what I am NOT saying about others’ rights to believe what they choose, only why I believe what I believe.)

Just as you cannot prove there is no God, my proof is subjective, I suppose you would think from a scientific pov. that He doesn’t exist. Just heard about a report from Harvard on the positive effects on the brain of prayer and meditation, not specifically the God I worship, but the brains of those who do. Interesting, no?

Anyway, I think, for whatever reason, and I believe there is one, God makes Himself known to some but not others.

Dr. Fauci, Covid and China is the biggest current example!

But since we’re talking about years of theories, it’s a given that the absence of absolutes promotes opportunity for the inevitable “mishandling”, especially when money plays a big role in the motives.

Luckily, myself and others saw through the Covid pseudoscience...

...and rejected it, no matter how hard the gub'mint tried to force it.

I've never had an injection of Pharma's mRNA poison and have never had a Flu shot.(another Pharma experiment)
My Father succumbed to previously non-existent Heart problems and died.
My eldest son died of Heart troubles.
My Sister suddenly acquired Pancreatic Cancer and died in a year.

I've lived almost 3/4 of a century without it, and "if it ain't broke, don't fix it."

Good Living and a little Cannabis and I'm good to go for another 1/4 of a century.
