I repeat my question to pick up where we left off: Natural state of existence?

Is this state of perfection of deity a natural state of existence?

Example which is not an exact comparison but will give you the idea: Flying is a natural ability most birds have. Humans can not fly naturally.

The question at hand was Who/what is worthy of worship?

So, my response was to signify perfection, meaning the ultimate in excellence in all ways, completely represented by omniscience, omniscience, omnibeneficence ( sp?).

That’s not natural, and nothing could supersede that.

The ancient gods and some modern ones, too, don’t even make those claims.

part of this discussion. Maybe the word natural needs to be defined. We can toss out that which is artificial and that which is man-made. I do not mean natural as occurring in nature. I mean something that is innate to a being. I can't very well say properties and abilities he was born with for obvious reasons.

Perfection isn't natural.

My take is that "perfection" (a really tricky word as it is) is incompatible with the observable natural world. A deity, with its implied inclusion of supernatural aspects, could well be "perfect," but if so, I'd argue that from the natural (imperfect) perspective of human observation and consideration, it would be impossible to demonstrate that perfection. Improvable...

pin down. There's a large degree of subjective perception to it if that makes any sense. I step out on my porch in the morning and say this is a perfect day. The temp is just right, the sun is shining and so on and so forth. Someone else might think its too cold or too warm or too bright or whatever. We can define perfect as without flaw but again by whose standards do we judge what is flawed and what is not? The natural world is not perfect. Someone may find flaws in symmetry, others in color, maybe some plants are insect eaten, maybe there's a dead tree in the distance. But the flaws do not detract from its overall beauty interestingly enough. And that may be judged as perfect by some.

Someone can say a deity with supernatural powers is perfect. Compared to humans and their capabilities that could be a valid statement. But in the grand scheme of things is it a valid statement? We humans are bound by our limitations. What is perfect can not be perfectly judged by us humans.

Its an interesting subject to explore but for now I am content with using the definition of perfect, as problematic as it is, as that which is without flaw. In a sentient being it can be used to describe its physical being and also its wisdom, emotions, intelligence, etc. I acknowledge that definition and concept of perfection has problems.

What do you need clarification on? Why do you see the question as somehow incomplete or lacking?
