What do you think of the new 530A account stock market index investment account for kids?

This seems like a good idea. The children get to start with a contribution of $1,000. They get to save more money and earn interest and learn about and practice saving for their future.

Too many Americans have too much debt. This give kids a chance to practice saving and investing.

Good idea. But few kids have a grand. Maybe daddy will front?

Is basic accounting, debits and credits, check book
balancing, etc. taught in 6th grade anymore? While the spread sheet has gone digital, the fundamentals are the same. PS: Without debt the economy would collapse faster than it is. Gigantic Ponzi scheme. Madoff was ahead of his time.

The $1,000 is a government contribution (for US citizens only). Even kids in poverty get it.

I agree, schools should teach more about accounting, investing, and saving.

Maybe this new childhood savings account will encourage more schools to have finance classes.

Oh! Well, it’s bizarre. Why does the government dabble in the market using our tax dollars?

Ive changed my mind. don’t think it’s good idea. Inflationary. Manipulative. And outside the scope of our ratty Constitutional government. I wonder what the real reason is for the ‘shot in the arm’ infusion of funny money.

They have done that in Europe for a very long time
