New Hymns

I like singing and praising Jesus. That is a given. Old hymns, choruses, contemporary praise music. I like them all, as long as they are about the goodness of God.

Anyway, I ran across this song written by a church group from Australia. We have sung it several times in our church as part of worship. It is a song in the hymn tradition, rather than a contemporary worship song. It isn't a praise song, because praise songs are about Him and Him alone. The song is about Jesus and our relationship with Him. Our only hope is through Him. It really prepares us to worship God.

I wonder what those plants are with the purple flowers.

We sing this, too, and it is beautiful. We sing some of Keith Getty’s songs, too. I favor the hymns, and some of the current music is hymn-like, too.

I really like Getty's songs too, especially, "In Christ Alone" It is even included in some church hymnals I hear. (Not ours yet)

There is other new good stuff, but I wouldn't call them hymns. Not there is anything wrong with them, they are more suited for outdoor concerts, conferences, and the like.

One of my favorites, just drives others up the wall.

It is from back in 2005 from my old Promise Keepers days. I credit that movement with taking away my chains and convincing me to quit being a "secret agent Christian". You know what a secret agent is? They are someone who sneaks around and doesn't want anyone to know who they are. (Tony Evans gets the credit for that)

Yeah, its a little wild, but I love it. Between 3:30 and 3:50, they slip in the line "...I KNOW THE SON HAS SET ME FREE, I AM FREE INDEED, I AM FREE.." Try to live that line every day.

The words are great.

Other than posting discussions on a backwater messageboard, I've taken no drastic actions against anybody.

I just find religion as a detriment to an advancing civilization and find it entertaining to point out it's foibles.

To live a life guided by ancient mythologies is rather illogical.

The new question YOU posed about differing sects, for one.

Your arguments and disagreement aside, it is the truth. Experiencing the truth of God’s Word begins in faith, not logic and mere human reasoning. You cannot understand what you don’t believe. You have no idea how ridiculous your Sunday sit and soak past religious understanding sounds. The tithe? Oh brother.

Whether he is familiar with it or not, I can't say. But I am...

Tangible evidence for what is largely an intangible phenomena, of course, is a very difficult ask. Tangible, documentable evidence for something posited to be largely supernatural would have to arise from that phenomenon's purported interactions with the tangible world...there would be evidence of what would otherwise be impossibly acausal subsequent phenomena.

Unless, I suppose, the alleged supernatural entity were, via whatever supernatural, physically acausal capabilities it possesses, covering its tracks (as it were). Does this not illustrate the futility of attempting to use physical observation/experimentation (and logic, for that matter) to prove or disprove the existence of any form of allegedly supernatural phenomena?

Thalamic rhythms in the 25-40 hertz range that occur only when the subject is observably conscious or in REM sleep, disappearing in non-REM deep sleep. Experiments with electrical stimulation of the claustrum. Tracking (via EEG, etc.) synchronization of activity in multiple cortical regions during observed consciousness. Observed correlation between changes in cerebral energy energy consumption and the level of possible observational activity (via isolation techniques). And more. That consciousness is at least in part comprised by brain function seems very close to certain at this juncture.

Energy? I don't even know where to start. Maybe CERN...?

The difference between consciousness and unconsciousness is simplicity. Brain activity has been monitored for decades.

The matter of energy?
Energy generated? Transmitted? Stored? Produced in animals? You pose a very broad question.
