But unlike farmerss and herdsmen they did not need to plant and maintain it. Not having to stay put they had no stable homes and villages to maintain either, creating at most temporary camps as needed with the little that they could carry and whatever local matterial was availble. Of course there were times of hunger and sickness, but it happened with farmrs and herdsmen as well, though over the longterm farmers could increase in population.

Maybe they didn't need as many calories per day as farmers did. I'm still trying to understand how it all worked.
