I recently received a payment in my bank account from Social Security in the amount of $90.

WTF was that for?

At first, I thought it was their way of telling me they have gone bankrupt.

My husband and I each got $90 that showed up in our bank account.

It's a one time premium rebate per eligible person, supposedly to offset rising premiums. Just a gimmick, I would assume... considering the timing.

A $90 “Social Security” direct deposit in October 2026 is actually a one‑time Medicare Part B premium rebate for eligible beneficiaries, not an increase in Social Security benefits. Most people who qualify received it by direct deposit around October 8, 2026, and it was funded through the Medicare Improvement Fund.

So, is that an ongoing reduction in the monthly Medicare premium?

On of my brothers has the “Advantage” Medicare coverage, so he did not get it.
