Today we proudly recognize Ernest Jones IV, a hometown success story whose journey began right here in Waycross and now shines on the NFL’s biggest stage with the Seattle Seahawks.

A standout at Ware County High School, Ernest carried his talent and work ethic to the University of South Carolina before being drafted into the NFL. His impact was immediate — and historic. Ernest was a key part of the Los Angeles Rams defense that captured their Super Bowl championship in 2022, earning a ring through grit, preparation, and elite play at linebacker.

Now with the Seahawks, Ernest continues to represent Waycross with pride — flying to the football, leading on defense, and showing young athletes from South Georgia what’s possible with discipline and belief. His story reflects the very heart of Black History Month: perseverance, excellence, and paving the way for those coming behind you.
