Like a lot of people, I have not been in the mood to celebrate. The dismal spectacle in D.C. is a metaphor for the country's mood right now. I am not looking forward to Trump leading his own tribute to Himself all over the media tomorrow. He basically stole July 4th.



I was surprised by the flood of fresh YouTube videos posted by soccer fans from all over the world, telling everyone back home how their media has been lying about America.




That started making me feel proud to be American despite the present circumstances. They were all impressed by how welcome they felt. They were amazed by odd things like yellow school busses, drink refills, Walmart, Buckees and ranch dressing.


Then I came across this post from an Afrikanner and it helped me realize the things I really love about this country.
