Luigi Mangione pleads guilty in killing of UnitedHealthcare boss Brian Thompson as his widow sobs in court: ‘I shot Mr. Thompson’

Luigi Mangione confessed to the cold-blooded killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson Friday, pleading guilty to federal charges as the slain executive’s widow wept silently in the courtroom gallery.

“On the morning of December 4, 2024, I shot Mr. Thompson in Manhattan, and he died,” Mangione, 28, said matter-of-factly as a Manhattan federal court judge accepted his plea to two federal stalking counts that each carry a potential life sentence.

“When I did so, I understood that my actions would place him in fear of death or serious bodily injury,” Mangione said. “I knew what I was doing was illegal.”
