Walmart prices

So Trump tells Walmart to "Eat the tariffs" and dares them to complain.

Same thing he did to Amazon, when Bezos threatened to list the cost of the tariffs on each item as you check out. The White House called it a “hostile and political act.”

wait a minute

China was supposed to eat the tariffs.

not us. This was supposed to punish China. How is cutting Walmart's margins punishing China? Why should an American company have to eat 145% on the products they sell?

when magical thinking comes to an end.

Walmart just posted record profits and a 4% sales increase,
but they’re STILL threatening to raise prices over tariffs?

Trump’s response:
“Stop screwing the American people. Eat the cost. Buy American.”

Walmart's job is to make money for shareholders. This is not about Walmart's "patriotism". They are doing what companies are supposed to do.

Trump sold the Tariffs as a way to punish other countries for our own trade imbalance.

He convinced you that tariffs woulld economically hurt China, and that we would rake in billions.

So where is that money coming from? from the prices we are paying. It's coming from your pockets whether you are a customer or a walmart shareholder.

Bait and switch in broad daylight, and people still don't get it.

You make some good points but what would the memory hole have to say regarding companies with excessive profits the last few years especially around COVID 🤔

Profits are companies reason to exist. "Excessive Profits" are even better. It is the nature of capitalism.

It is the law of the jungle in the business world. The only way to stop companies from being obscenely predatory is to regulate them. But regulatory agencies are being dismantled as we speak.

So we can expect more of this soon.

if you think "we're" through funding corporate greed just look at that warmonger budget and the tax cuts for corporations. look at the spending that benefits corporations.
