Folks, I have been blessed to reach my senior years. As such I have occasion to review my storehouse of memories. A large number of those memories are treasured fishing trip memories. One that is especially valuable to me I will now share with you. Go fishing often. Make memories that you can relish when you get old like me and you likely find yourself enjoying old fishing memories as opposed to making new fishing memories. hooks Memory Two brothers, Greg Griffin and Joe Griffin, loved fishing together. They had many trips together fishing both freshwater and saltwater. On June 5, 2019 they went to the Swanee Canal in the Okefenokee Swamp. They launched their boat at 0700 am. Three hours later at 1000 am they were out of bait. They had caught over 200 warmouth perch. They released all of them alive back into the water except for 55 of the very largest that they carried home to the fish cleaning table to be shared with family and friends. As they were traveling home, they made plans to return asap and try again. Before they could return, fourteen days later on June 19, 2019, Joe broke his back putting any plans to go fishing on hold indefinitely. Three years later on July 4, 2022 after having done no fishing since 2019, they were making plans to fish again together soon. Then, on July 25, 2022 Greg passed from this life. Joe will forever treasure the memory of that June day in 2019 when two brothers caught over 200 fish in the Okefenokee Swamp. For them there won't be a repeat in this life but maybe in the next.
