Threatening the Pope

The administration summoned the Vatican ambassador and declared "the United States has the military power to do whatever it wants — and that the Church had better take its side.”

Then it reminded the Vatican ambassador of the Avignon Papacy, in which the king of France asserted control of the papacy and forced them to operate from a city in France instead of the Vatican.

Whoever it is that is advising Trump to threaten the Catholic church ... I would like to send them flowers.
