Imagine the 14th youngest player in baseball being barely 18 years old at the start of the season.
This kid is the starting shortstop and hits .280/.350/.450 with 20 HRs while playing on a team mostly comprised of AAA talent and missing a month due to injury. He's the best hitter on the team so pitchers rarely give in to him and often try to pitch around him to face the rest of the roster.
He also commits a ton of errors some of which are due to the fact that talent on the team is poor. The 1st baseman does an extremely poor job of handling picks or corralling offline throws. The 2B can't really turn a double play. The 3B has no range so the kid is attempting to cover more ground than he should be.
Bedard is a superstar in the making. He has a lot to work on, but he also needs help around him. His performance offensively this year was incredible. He doesn't turn 19 until July.
