I went to a great dinner dinner last week at a Spanish restaurant specializing in Gallecian food. They brought out this amazing wine, and I was dining with two food scientists from my wife's cider company. I really enjoyed a particular wine, and I asked the server if it was "oxidized", as it had a slight brown tinge and funky taste. I'm not sure what I was trying to ask, but I was quickly informed by all at the table that I had just unintentionally insulted the wine and the restaurant. I was slightly mortified.
