I think we’re seeing it more often where guys are taking the bag at the end of their careers, so obviously that’s the driver. Son doesn’t really have competition to ward off in the South Korean squad and was run into the ground the last 2 years at Spurs. This gives him a chance to have a year to stay fully healthy in a less demanding league while getting paid.

As for Frank, we’ll see. I like what I’ve heard about him and what he’s done at Brentford. Seems like a smart guy so hopefully he can pick up the rotation required to play all the games Spurs have. I’ve seen a lot of Spurs fans say “Now that we have a trophy, we need to push for more in these domestic competitions next year. Prioritize those.” I think that’s the exact wrong thought process. Spurs need to prioritize the league and UCL and punt the cups. Have to get back on stable ground in the league first and foremost.
