When they leave an actual review of a beer like this on BeerAdvocate:
The pour created a two-fingered, white head with excellent retention. The slow dissipation left chunks of lacing on the glass. The color is straw yellow with a light golden hue, the clarity is clear, and the charts are at SRM 4. The appearance of the beer is excellent for a Belgian Pale Ale.
In my first whiff of beer, I cloves, white pepper, bananas, phenols, floral bouquet, crackers, biscuits, lightly toasted malts, a light malty sweetness, and a hint of grass.
The first sip showcased the Belgian yeast, with notes of white pepper, bananas, phenols, cloves, and a light yeastiness. Sipping the beer again, I notice the malts are cracker- and biscuit-like, with notes of toasted malts and a light, malty sweetness, along with a hint of grass.
The mouthfeel is astringent, finishing crisp and dry. The body is light and has medium-plus carbonation.
Final Thought: When I initially grabbed this beer, I thought it was a fruit beer, given its name, Stone Soup, which is typically associated with stone fruit. I was not disappointed to learn it was a Pale Ale. The beer is soft with a lovely dryness. It goes down easy on this hot night.
If any of you leave reviews like this on BA, I invite you to come sniff my farts. And take yourselves less seriously.
