We did a Peoria trip for years and it is both fantastic and cheap
Stay either downtown Peoria or near the casino in East Peoria Play Coyote Creek in Bartonville, Lick Creek in Pekin, and Metamora Fields in Metamora. Others like Weaver Ridge, but I think it is wildly overrated and it’s pricey. Other great options: Forest Dunes (about 5 hours) French Lick (4.5 hours) Those are similar in price to Geneva National. I also love the Quad Cities. Play Blackstone or Highlands of Elgin on the way out, then Deere Run and Fyre Lake when you get there. Stay at the Blackhawk Hotel in Davenport
