Chicken Pox.  Previous Message if you've had Chicken Pox since it's the same virus that has remained dormant for decades until it creates the rash. Now, if you've never had chicken pox, then that is a concern for an adult. The virus can be deadly in an adult that gets the infection. I've taken care of a few adults with severe pneumonia/pneumonitis from the varicella infection. One died. You can request your doctor test you to see if you've been truly exposed to chicken pox and have an immunity to it. This would tell you if you need a shingles vaccine or possible Varivax (Chicken Pox vaccine)  Previous Message I've never had the chicken pox. Then, when my kids were little and got their chicken pox vaccines, I went ahead and got vaccinated for that at the same time as them. So, is it true that I don't need a shingles vaccine?
