For the highest level (with or without poly), dual citizenship can be an issue, as can be family ties to the country of birth by the applicant or immediate family. I remember a colleague who almost got denied because his wife was born in China.

And that was for a natural-born citizen. If they are casting about for ties to foreign nationals, you can have those as a US citizen regardless of how you became a citizen.
