So my dad had quintuple bypass surgery at age 57 (26 years ago). My brother just recently had quintuple bypass surgery at age 57. So, I'm 53 ... I decided to get a heart calcium scan done to assess my risk.
I've been on 20MG of atorvastatin for 15+ years, exercise regularly, and maintain a healthy weight (I think?), so I figured I was likely fine. I haven't heard back from my doctor on the results, but I'm at "high cardiovascular risk" with a calcium score of 160. Yay. I now get to wait breathlessly to see what they say next steps are. Fun times. Getting old sucks.
