My experience is completely different
My wife and I grew up in rural farm communities in Western Illinois. I didn't walk to school. She grew up on a farm. Our experiences growing up aren't like living in eithr the City or the burbs. But it's closer to the suburban experience by a good bit in terms of day to day existence.  Previous Message A legitimate small town. Walk to school small town. The typical suburban experience is about as far from small town as you can get. There may be some suburbs that have that feel, but I'm guessing that is because it shares similarities with cities.
