Bedard was trying to shoot the puck at the net off the draw. Makes sense. What else can you do in 0.8 seconds. He's applying a lot of forward force onto his stick to make that happen. Schenn is trying to prevent that by swiping up with his stick. Schenn was successful. Bedard's stick is lifted in the opposite direction he was trying to go with it to shoot the puck. This puts an enormous amount of pressure on Bedard's right shoulder. BEDARD IS ALREADY HURT AT THAT MOMENT and actually lets go of his stick and starts to fall down. Schenn then shoves Bedard backward but in doing so applies force to Bedard's left shoulder, not contacting the shoulder that was already injured. There's a good replay available here along with lots of reddit posters who concur with what I just described.
