They aren't looking into how to prevent this from happening again. There wasn't "We need to look into how and why this awful tragedy happened and how we can prevent it going forward. We can and should do better."

Instead they immediately smear the victim, right up to the President himself, so they can legitimize the kill and so they can do it again going forward.

To them, this terror is a feature, NOT a bug.
