I'd guess it's not just trying to drive the sports radio audience, but also for Cubs games.  Previous Message apparently a bill has been put forth to force them to keep AM radio, doing an FM simulcast will give the station cover until that happens and/or if the bill doesn't pass. as for why Audacy, who owns the station, did this...no idea. but now I'll need to find a new station for my last preset
