It’s frustrating to lose close games because you can’t help to think we would have won “if we had just gotten that rebound” or “if we just would have made that free throw” or “if we just would have stopped that layup”. In isolation each of those things are INEXCUSABLE.
But I think it’s simply that we are a really good team that is injured. I tried to do some back-of-a-cocktail-napkin math using Torvik’s PRPG!:
With Boswell out we are at 84%. Take Stojakovic out and we are at 72%.
That’s not even accounting for the impact on perimeter defense or fatigue (both in-game and cumulative).
It sucks that our conference championship hopes look dim, though I would have told you at the beginning of the season I didn’t care about that.
It sucks that we are looking more like a 3 than a 1. I would have take that at the beginning of the season.
About the only thing I’m “mad” about is the fact that Underwood took a gamble on Petrovic and whiffed. But the rest of his dudes have worked out pretty well.
