Fighting Illini guard Gretchen Dolan will miss the rest of the 2025-26 season after tearing her meniscus.
According to Illini athletics, Dolan underwent surgery on the meniscus in her right knee on Monday.
Across the 18 games she appeared in during this season, Dolan averaged 12.9 points, 3.4 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 1.2 steals per game.
The Illini have been ranked No. 1 all season. If it’s possible for a No. 1 team to be dismissed, they have been. Because they’ve never actually done it.
That could change in the NCAA Indoor Championships, set for March 13-14 at Fayetteville, Ark. Before that, there is the Big Ten meet Thursday through Saturday at Indianapolis.
The Illini will score zero NCAA points in running events, and barely more than that in the Big Ten. That is not their game.
In DyeStat's most recent NCAA projections, Georgia edges Illinois 51-50. Also in the mix are Big Ten newcomers Oregon and USC, South Carolina and BYU.
