The current system of specifying you want something “thin sliced” or whatever, then trying to judge the relative thickness of a piece of meat being waved 4 feet away is ridiculously imprecise and dependent on the subjective opinions of specific employees.

There’s no reason not just have a 1-10 scale so that every time I go to the deli I can always get things sliced at the exact thickness that I prefer.
