This advice might be a little outdated, but my experience is that some wineries can seem ... almost unprepared for visitors. Not especially outward facing. It's nice when there's someone behind the counter. It's nice when there's a counter. It's nice when they have some bottles to sell you, just in case you liked the taste, if they had one to offer. An alarming percentage of the people I visited wine country with are dead, or have quit drinking, so my opinion should probably be ignored.
