We amassed significant presence outside of Iran for months. We had been planning it for months. It’s been pretty clear for some time that we were most likely going in.
The idea that Israel would go in at this moment without American approval and that we’d be reluctantly dragged in is pretty absurd.
All the actual reporting disputes this as well and the White House has cleaned this up as well.
He was referring to the timing of the attack. At best he misspoke.
Bibi wanted to go in because they had an opportunity to take leadership at that moment and Trump was leaning towards going in already and that pushed him over.
The USA was not dragged into this because of a decision by Israel to attack they couldn’t stop.
