He's 11 and has been playing for 2.5 years now and is actually getting pretty good, especially for 11. In December he played Forty Six and Two live with a "band" at winter performances for where he does lessons.

Anyways, the bass we bought him at first was a short scale (I think that's right term?) and a more...entry level model that cost around 175. Didn't want to get anything nicer until we knew he'd be sticking with it.


So now he's ready for a regular sized bass, and something nicer. I...just am a bit overwhelmed by all of the choices and the incredibly large price range. There's choices all the way from 200 to 2k, what's the sweet spot between the two? His current bass is an Ibanez, I assume as long as we stick with the major brands we're ok?
