I don't think that would have worked in the film, but it did for me work in the book. Obvs dd didn't like it, or maybe can't appreciate it without the rest of the book in the rear view.

I've thought quite a bit about book/screen adaptations recently. The one I keep thinking about is how Silo is going to go down. Because there's no way they can stay faithful to the book's structure in the show. You just adios a bunch of characters for a season? Not happening. And I think I'm OK with that.
