Waddle & Silvy used to host these Lunch with a Legend things, where they'd broadcast from a Morton's steakhouse, have a "legendary" sports person come in and talk for an hour, and fans could go for lunch and listen/watch.

I went to 2...the first was with Scottie Pippen. I brought a basketball on the chance that he'd be willing to sign autographs. But during show breaks they'd have a couple security people come out in front of the stage and turn people away that were looking to have him sign anything.

The second was Charles Barkley. again brought a basketball, figuring it couldn't hurt. He came out to start his segment 20-30 minutes early just because. During the first break someone went up and was initially turned away. But Barkley waived him up and said it was ok. From then on during every break there was a line of people with stuff for him to sign. He signed everything, asked everyone their name, thanked them for coming, etc. He was great.
