1. Violent crime in San Francisco is very low / rare. (17 murders so far this year, which is double last year).
2. Violent crime in my neighborhood is near non-existant.
3. His son lives 2 doors to the south of me.
So, I didn't know the guy but had seen him around given his son's proximity. He gave not good vibes. He served 15 years for vehicular manslaughter on his 3rd DUI. His son pretty much grew up without him around because he was in prison.
It's also kinda fascinating because he was a part of "SDI"...Sunset District Incorporated / Irish (depending on who you ask). It's basically a 1980s / 1990s relic of a neighborhood gang that would roll deep to parties and start fights with anyone who was around. Hang out near the beach and start fights with anyone around...particularly minorities. Most of their parents were firefighters, cops or city employees...so they generally skated on their crimes. From what I understand, I'm very glad they're mostly gone given that I now have kids of my own. FB posts about him from his friends have a 40 year old pick of him giving the Nazi salute and all these old guys repping "SDI" like a bunch of losers.
I think with our changing demographics they're been pretty much defunct and usurped by Vietnamese gangs.
Anyway, I think this dude either got got by someone he crossed in prison or someone from the lady's family he killed so many years ago. The suspect rode up to his house on a bicycle at 5 20 am Sunday morning in clothes all one color, crocs, a mask, a beanie and gloves. He then got a rifle stashed from somewhere and shot him infront of his house then disappeared.
Anyway, that's my fun CSI story of the day.
