i'm not 100% sure but i think if you are actively opening it then sounds would still come through

i mean the point of the focus mode is that you have it by your side and don't want it to distract you. if you are actively engaging with it, that basically means you don't care about the distractions/sounds i get what you're saying. and maybe something that should be possible. but for now, i'd say flip the little button to put it to silent mode when you pick it up and use vs passively on desk
