If you want a Rolex sport watch like a Submariner, Yachtmaster, or Daytona, you have to get a dealer to put you on their list. To get on their list, you have to buy a watch or two you don't want. The only reason there is any wait at all for the Oyster Perpetual is because people buy it as an introduction to the dealer.
Similar with Ferrari. You're not just walking in and buying an F80. For anything other than standard production models, you need documentation history. At the moment, the fastest way to become a documented Ferrari owner is to buy this ugly piece of shit. So people are buying them.
