They set the "villain" up as an irredeemable monster, toying with her victims via their memories. Then they revealed that actually she's just a foster kid fighting the system, so it's OK. I guess we're supposed to believe nobody was killed or seriously injured during one of Jean's many rampages, (except for the lady cop who was in the car Spidey flipped, and Spidey himself), but it sure as hell wasn't for lack of trying. There are plenty of ways to do a good villain fakeout, but this movie didn't seem interested in any of them.

Speaking of the flipped car, they also really dropped the ball on Peter's whole spider DNA thing. "Mechanical web shooters do not work with biological web shooters." OK, why? And how do you know that? Could we maybe see *some* of the journey from "I need to wear this inhibitor, because otherwise my head hurts and I can't see clearly" to "no, actually, this thing that was the source of my problems is now my secret weapon"? Perhaps Peter should give Bruce some advice on how to intregrate the monster inside you with your normal self, because he seemed to have figured it out without much trouble.

Another thing they couldn't quite connect the dots with was the Aunt May memory. The speech they had her give wasn't relevant enough to Peter to believe that he'd still have a memory of it, and it wasn't relevant enough to Jean to believe it would soothe her. That whole part of the story was just the writers trying to manufacture stakes, and doing a shitty job of it.

Speaking of shitty, I also found it funny how they made Frank say some variation of "shit" every other word, just to drive home the point that he's the edgy one. Oh, and I just remembered how hard my eyes rolled at the V-Max reveal.

Other than that it was fine.
