Caught hundreds of trout: rainbows, browns, cutthroat, brookies… the largest fish all of us caught were rainbows in a no-name stream in the Black Hills of South Dakota. We were only there because the engine in my 1990 4Runner broke down on the interstate near Rapids City on our way to Montana. We spent four nights there in a hotel while the Toyota dealer found an old engine to replace it. We rented a Chevy Metro and tooled around the hills looking for spots. We happened on this muddy stream 30 min outside of town, and all of us landed the largest fly-caught trout of our lives
