Read an article recently that tied the precipitous fall in drinking and rise in weed means people have traded what used to be a social lubricant done with friends for an anti-social drug. And that usage over time of weed has gone from something done in group/social settings in the 70s to individual consumption at present.

Cause is probably the wrong word, more potential drivers.

To your second point, I thought they were a lot lower than the trendline

Third point, feels like so many good stories that don't make the rounds
