Especially given that we're reportedly at or near the top of the sport in NIL in basketball. Why would we assume teams would abide by the rev-share cap in football but be willing to spend above and beyond in basketball?

I think it's much more likely that despite recent success under Bert, the history of this program has produced a relatively moribund donor base, and that Whitman used what fund raising capital he has to go all in on basketball this year.

That said, if your theory is true and we really thought rev-sharing would be it, then this should have been a wake up call and we'll see a spike in spending next year. And I'll gladly admit I was wrong if that's the case.
