We spent 5.5 years there and even though it’s only one hour difference from pacific, it really felt more connected to the east than pacific does. Earlier sports starts on weekends were great, the weeknight games were still largely 5pm or later, and you could also fly east in the evening on a non-redeye.

Plus night playoff and tournament games don’t typically go past midnight like they do for easterners. The occasional early starts before work is done were sometimes annoying. But on the whole I liked being a sports fan in the pacific time zone.
After 11 years there we are now back in Colorado. Mountain time is kind of the Goldilocks time zone IMO.

I’m newly pacific time, but I root for New York (and Illinois) sports. 7pm ET game times are 4pm here for NBA, NHL, MLB, and college basketball. If you work in the office and not remote, as I will begin to on Monday, you’ll never be able to catch most games.
Maybe an outlier dimension to judge it on, but for me that’s a point for eastern over pacific. And just purely from having grown up in it, eastern has always been “normal” time for me.
