I can give real world feedback on a Jones fracture, seeing as how I just had one Monday night.
All the feedback I'm getting is that even with surgery, the heal is slow and has to be taken very carefully, because the risk of reinjury to this kind of break is very high. It's an area of low blood flow and high stress. I'm sure they're looking at imaging of how it's healing and being very careful with it...losing him again midseason because they didn't wait long enough for it to heal would be much more painful than holding him out for the first month or so. My surgical consult is Thursday...I almost want to have the surgery so it heals faster and stronger. I can tell you from personal experience that it hurts like a bitch.
