Trump being voted out isn't going to make McConnell forget the lessons he's learned since Merrick Garland. It isn't going to convince our erstwhile allies to let bygones be bygones, because they know we're only four years away from possibly doing it again. The toothpaste is out of the tube.
Also, the shambling corpse of hate that once called itself the GOP is well aware that their ideas are most popular among old people. That's why they're doing everything they can to limit the franchise among traditionally Democratic blocs, and/or call end runs around election results. See Georgia and North Carolina.
