haunted my the mom. Neutral ghost though. I spent some nights there as a kid with my cousin and whoa boy. But I never saw anything. It was an amazing place for a kid though to explore. So many great memories. The ceilings are so high my dad used one room to shoot baskets. He was a regular Jimmy Chitwood and can shoot with both hands and good enough to play for a year at WIU.
It looks straight out of Gone With the Wind. 30 something rooms in it. Amazing staircase entry (the one in the photos was the back one for the servant quarters). My dads HS classmate bought it and saved it in the 90s after being in our family for about 100 years. Eventually went to some person from Chicago area who got money from an injury settlement and blew it all. Would be an amazing hunting lodge. Our cousin hunts our farm next door and always does great. Here it is below. Makes me sad to see it this way.
it was built by an great-grandparent say. Would you t buy it and fix it up, as it is in a state of disrepair, and you wouldn't mind living there, even if it wasn't ideal, just for the historical context?
